A friend of mine from the neighborhood just started a blog I’m very excited about: Play Atlanta. She’s a stay-at-home mom who has decided to visit and review every playground in Atlanta. If you’re looking to play outside in Atlanta–which, of course, you should be–then this is a fabulous resource.

Playing outside is an essential component–maybe the most important component–of raising an “organic” baby. Being outdoors (even in hot Atlanta) is good for your brain; it’s good for your senses; it’s good for your soul. It teaches kids to love nature and it enables them to experience the seasons. I’d rather take my kid to the woods or the beach than a playground–the more undeveloped an environment is, the more there is to explore. But for us city dwellers, playgrounds are a good start.
